Reading the September issue of Smallish – if you don’t read it , please give it a try – one particular feature really a struck a chord with me ‘Baby, I’m bored’ (p.35-39) by Emma Howarth highlighting the Mum group revolution that’s gaining momentum aka ‘Mum-entum©’?; I’m proud to say that this is something that I am a (small) part of, as a bonafide member of Cambridgeshire’s own #CamMama Collective.

‘Indie’ (Independent)

‘Pop’ (Popular or Commercial)*

The way we shop has changed. The Internet has become our High Street & Marketplace. I believe it is still possible to consume with conscious & convenience. I also believe in loving where you live & embracing local life, wherever that may be.  Continue reading

My desk side inspiration (Portrait by Helen Traherne)

As I said my first ‘Goodbye’ to my daughter this morning as she embarks on her adventures at Nursery in earnest, I am also saying ‘Hello’ to a new venture. As of the 2nd September (next Friday) this space will become home to my own adventures through Motherhood & provide a useful guide with a fresh twist*; honest & useful with a relevant yet alternative focus.

My hair transformation at George Northwood

“Be there, or have bad hair”

The Northwood name is one synonomous with the poster girls of today; his loyal client list reading like an A-list party invitation. George has been the go-to guy for many years for both Rosie Huntington-Whiteley & Alexa Chung. Celebrity endorsements aside, when the in-the-know Editors (see: Lorraine Candy, ELLE & Emma Elwick-Bates, VOGUE) are also making a beeline for a salon, you know it’s the place to go. So when Laura Fantacci of Wearing It Today (formerly of Red) posted an exclusive offer for 20% off* at the newly opened Wells Street premises, I couldn’t resist. Continue reading

Dad is not a dirty word

Screen Shot 2014-06-16 at 15.22.46

So yesterday, Sunday 15th June, marked ‘Father’s Day’ in the UK . Following in the modern commercial  Card Co generated tradition of ‘Mothering Sunday’ (originally a celebration of the Church) which I for one, pay much homage to these celebratory occasions of our old folks – taking the time to say ‘Thanks’, chuck a card in the post & raise a glass in their honour. Nobody ever claimed being a parent is easy & it’s the least us kids can do, eh? Continue reading

‘Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that’ – Martin Luther King Jr (Chandeliers at The Ritz, London)

Last Thursday, 29th May, was a bit of an odd ‘anniversary’ for me. Two years ago that day was one of mixed blessings and feelings – it marked the funeral of my much beloved Grandmother-in-law, Ruth and then the afternoon promised an unrelated celebratory Afternoon Tea. At The Ritz. With a celebrity. Continue reading

ELLE UK subscriber cover October 2013

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley smoulders on the subscriber’s cover of ELLE UK, October 2013

So, after weeks, months, let’s face it, a lifetime of anticipation (at least on my part) today the October issue of ELLE UK hits the newsstands; the ‘Edited by the Interns’ special. I had the honour of being selected as ‘The Editor Intern’ for this ground-breaking initiative, now into its second year, in association with Nokia.
